LAS VEGAS - A solid second-half lifted the Utah women's basketball team to a 70-55 victory against Air Force in the second round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
Utah will face No. 1 seed BYU in the semifinals on Friday, March 11, at noon PT. The women's side has an off day on Thursday while the men complete their first round games.
After the score was tied at halftime, 29-29, Utah opened the second half on an 18-2 run through the first 10 minutes to take a 16-point lead, 47-31.
Although Air Force worked to cut the lead down to nine with 30 seconds remaining, the Utes made free throws down the stretch to push the final score back up to double digits.
The Utes were strong on the boards for the second-straight game, holding a 40-26 advantage.
Four players scored in double figures, led by 18 points from Janita Badon. Michelle Harrison had a season-high 15 points while Michelle Plouffe and Iwalani Rodrigues each scored 11. Harrison and Badon each had a team-high eight rebounds.
