“We are extremely pleased with this recruiting class and feel that we have signed a great group of impact players. Our goal is to continue to get better and I feel like we accomplished that.  For the second straight year, we have focused on the both the offensive and defensive lines and the secondary.  This is a unique class in most of these guys are proven winners and come from winning programs.  This group understands how to win and the hard work winning requires.  This class gives us depth and competition at critical positions.  Our overall philosophy is to increase athleticism and speed, and we have done that. A lot of credit is due to the coaching staff and their efforts.  We have aggressively tried to sign players who can make a difference and help take this program to the next level.”

A wide receiver with great size and sprinter speed…listed as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com…split his senior season between Dunbar and Northwestern…had 15 receptions, 250 yards and three touchdowns in his first three games at Dunbar, but returned to Northwestern and didn’t have the opportunity to finish the year… had 28 receptions for 450 yards and five touchdowns as a junior at Northwestern…while at Dunbar Senior High School, he played for legendary head coach Craig Jefferies …chose New Mexico over scholarship offers from Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Marshall and Temple… attended the same high school as Lobo WR Deon Long…Dunbar also produced NFL stars Vernon and Vontae Davis, Arrelious Benn and Joshua Cribbs...also competed in track during high school…listed as the 11th best recruit in the state of Maryland.

“He is a prototypical wide receiver with sprinter speed.  He is a guy that I thought was under-the-radar but was definitely a guy that a lot of people in the mid-Atlantic area knew about. He has the ability to attack the football in the air and makes plays.  He has the ability to stretch the field vertically and we are excited to have him.”

Suwanee, Ga. (Erie Community College)

Spent the previous two seasons at Erie Community College playing for Coach Dennis Greene…racked up 54 tackles in two seasons at ECC (45 solo/9 assisted)…first name is pronounced des-tree…finished his junior college career with three interceptions and 14 pass breakups in 19 games…earned second-team Northeast Conference honors in 2010…also had three blocked kicks this past season...named All-Northeast Football Conference and was selected to play in the Junior College All-American Bowl…recognized as the ECC Scholar Athlete of the Year…chose New Mexico over Buffalo and Akron.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Collins Hills High School in Suwanee, Ga…while at CHHS, he played on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback…he was a First Team All-Region selection as a senior…also played basketball in high school…played in the Region 7 5A Gwinnett All-Star Game…currently enrolled at UNM and will participate in spring drills.

“Destry helps us in the secondary.  He is known for his speed and his ability as a cover corner.  Destry has great feet and a great burst.  He has a knack for blocking kicks and making big plays. He is also a guy that can help us in the return game and special teams.”

Physical player up front with good hands…great size and strong football bloodlines…named All-Conference and All-Area as a senior…played tight end for Central High School and head coach Rich Payne…father, Brian, was an offensive tackle at Nebraska from 1987-92 and is currently the offensive line coach at Southeast Missouri State....also played basketball.

“A big tight end that could be a key part of our offense.  Zach can come in and help us.  He is a strong run blocker, but finds a way to get open in the passing game.  We see him as a backside tight end early as he develops but has great potential.”

Hard-hitting linebacker who excelled in a 3-4 scheme at Armwood High School.…Played for legendary Florida high school coach Sean Callahan… led his team to the 4A Florida State Championship game and finished the 2010 season with a 12-1 record …chose New Mexico over Youngstown State and Florida International…finished his senior season with 68 tackles (35 solo) and six sacks…

“He is a hybrid type – a mixture of safety and linebacker. He has great closing speed and is very physical.  He reads the play well and reacts with high energy.  He can make plays in space.  Physical pass rusher and could be used in blitz packages. Could help us on special teams and as an outside linebacker.”

A Top-10 Junior College offensive lineman in the nation… an immediate impact player up front who improves depth on the offensive line… spent two seasons at Arizona Western at both offensive tackle and guard for head coach Tom Minnick…first name is pronounced Kor-EE-an…two-year starter who was named First Team All-Region WSFL in 2010…also had scholarship offers from several BCS programs, including Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech… led the Arizona Western Matadors to back-to-back Western States Football League Championships…finished his two years at Western with a 19-4 overall record.

“Korian was a must-get for us.  We graduated four starters on the offensive line and he is a veteran guy who will be here for spring ball.  He is a guy that could play either left or right tackle. Highly-touted proven winner who is listed as an athlete but played quarterback while at Good Counsel High School…has only lost four games during his football career, including eight consecutive undefeated seasons before entering high school…led the Falcons to back-to-back WCAC Championships as a junior and senior…took his team to the WCAC Championship game where they defeating DeMatha, 42-3, in 2010…was 11-for-20 passing in the championship game for 161 yards and three touchdowns…his unique athletic ability enabled him to turn a routine quarterback draw into a 61-yard touchdown jaunt…finished his senior season with 1,338 yards passing and 18 touchdowns…he also had 98 carries for 438 yards and 10 touchdowns...recorded six games with 100 yards passing or more…during two playoff games his senior year, he was 21-of-36 passing for 372 yards and six TDs…played for Bob Milloy at Good Counsel…as a junior, threw for 1,420 yards and 11 touchdowns to only three interceptions…had over 400 yards rushing and six TDs in his junior season…also had offers from Buffalo and Illinois…finished his career with over 4,500 passing yards, nearly 1,500 yards rushing, 46 passing touchdowns and rushed for 27 TDs…named 2010 Second Team All-State and All-Metro Honorable Mention by the Washington Post…also a 2010 All-Gazette and All-Sentinel selection…selected as the starting quarterback for the Crab Bowl and Chesapeake Bowl.

An All-Region selection by PrepStar and ranked as the No. 64 athlete by ESPN and No. 72 by Rivals.com coming out of Hamilton High School in Los Angeles…originally signed with Colorado in 2010…played wide receiver, defensive back, and quarterback and was a kick returner as he started for four years at various positions for coach Adam Golding…as a senior, he led Hamilton to an 11-3 record and Los Angeles City Sectionals championship, the first in the school's 78-year history…he was the Los Angeles City Section Player of the Year and named first team All-City by the Los Angeles Times… playing wide receiver, he caught 77 passes for 1,691 yards and 16 touchdowns…he was responsible for 27 touchdowns, as he also had three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, two touchdowns on kickoff returns, one on a punt return and three on interception returns…defensively, he accounted for 50 tackles and had 10 interceptions…he forced two fumbles and had two blocked kicks…as a junior, he earned second-team All-City by the Los Angeles Times and played more quarterback while remaining at defensive back on defense…he accounted for 10 touchdowns, passing for five, rushing for four and receiving one…he also returned kicks and punts and defensively, he had three interceptions, one forced fumble, five blocked kicks and 35 tackles…as a sophomore, he was named second-team All-City by the Los Angeles Times, catching 54 balls for 725 yards and seven touchdowns… also threw for a pair of touchdowns playing primarily wide receiver on offense…defensively that season, he had three interceptions…as a freshman while earning first-team All-Western Section: L.A. Considered an all-purpose back with great speed and agility…four-year letterwinner for Rockville High School and coach Kevin Bernot…Top-10 Maryland all-time career rushing list with over 5,000 rushing yards…led the Washington, D.C., metro area with 2,142 yards rushing as a senior…finished his senior season with 33 rushing touchdowns…named First-Team Washington Post All-Metro and was a 2010 Maryland Consensus All-State Team selection…named the Washington Sentinel Player of the Year…earned First Team All-Gazette honors and made First Team All-D.C. Crusoe is the type of player that can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.”

Finished his prep career as one of the top pass rushers in South Florida…four-year player at Southridge High School in Miami, Fla., for head coach Rodney Hunter…had 78 tackles and 21 sacks in his final prep season…was named First Team All-District and was named First Team All-Dade County…played in the 2011 Nike South Florida All-Star Football game…chose New Mexico over Cincinnati, Memphis and Middle Tennessee State…very good speed off the edge and has an array of moves to cut to the inside of the lineman…good at getting his hands on the quarterback and securing the tackle…ranked among the best defensive tackles in the country by Rivals.com.

“He is a testament to the type of player that comes out of Dade County.  He is a long, rangy defensive end and has all the tools you look for.  He has a quick first step and led the area in sacks.  Desmond has a high motor and is a highly productive defensive end.”

Powerful lineman with a tremendous upside…Albuquerque native who played for head coach Chad Wallin at Volcano Vista High School...emerged as one of the top lineman in the state as a senior…chose New Mexico over New Mexico State…attended UNM’s lineman camp…started 21 games and graded out at 79 percent or better during his career…had 32 knockdowns and several key blocks that led to touchdowns…only allowed three sacks while at VVHS…helped lead the Hawks to the state semifinals in 2009 with a record of 10-2…as a senior, he was named Honorable Mention All-District and Honorable Mention All-Metro…was named the offensive line Most Valuable Player for the National Underclassmen Combine the summer leading into his senior year…he was a Second Team All-District performance as a junior and named Honorable Mention All-Metro…also wrestled and threw shot.

“A local product who has his best football ahead of him.  He loves the weight room and has great strength.  He falls into my category of linemen that are former wrestlers - guys who understand know how to use his hands.  We were extremely impressed after seeing him at camp and we think he has a bright future.”


Deshon Marman.....DB.....6-0.....195.....Jr-Tr
San Francisco, Calif. (City College of San Francisco)

True leader with a winning mentality…physical player who can have an immediate impact in the secondary…played two seasons at City College of San Francisco for George Rush…led CCSF to a 11-1 record this season and played in the national championship game…helped lead the Rams to back-to-back conference championships…earned All-Conference honors in 2010…finished his career at CCSF with 117 tackles and two interceptions…recorded 61 tackles in 2010 with an interception and nine passes defended…as a freshman, he was third on the team with 56 tackles and an interception...he will have three years to play two seasons for the Lobos.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco in 2009…received numerous high school awards including 2009 Player of the Year, First Team All-League, two-time Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time Second Team All-Metro selection.

PERSONAL:  Born March 7, 1991 in Garlington Island, Calif….age is 19…son of Donna Doyle and John Marman…nickname is Shine…lists football as his hobby…relatives David Henderson, John Mark Henderson and Dominique Hunter played collegiate athletics.

“Deshon comes from a winning program.  He was the leader on a team that played in the national championship game.  He has great size and will bring a strong mentality to the field.  He has the ability to see the whole field and has the ability to cover a lot of ground. He is a great open-field tackler and very physical at the point of attack. He has shown tremendous leadership skills. Deshon was the leader of the defense and led by example. I look forward to him bringing that mind-set to our secondary.”

Silver Springs, Md. (Sherwood HS)

Named a Three-star defensive back  by Rivals.com with great skills…played at Sherwood High School for head coach Al Thomas…played in the 2010 Crab Bowl as a cornerback…chose New Mexico over Ohio, East Carolina and Rutgers…led his team to a 10-2 record as a senior…ranked as the 17th best recruit in Maryland…has great speed and athletic ability…great ball instincts and is a real hitter in run support...played as a defensive back and a wide receiver at Sherwood…has great balance and is explosive with the football in his hands…returns kicks and has a nose for the football…first Sherwood player to sign a Division I-A NLI since 2009…Honorable Mention All-State in 2010 as a defensive back...also competed in track.

Proven winner with great speed and leadership…2A First Team All-State as a junior and senior…All-Conference and All-County performer as a senior…three-year starter at Robinson High School for coach Mike DePue…had 5.5 sacks in one game as a junior…physical player that has the ability to make an immediate impact at linebacker…named the Robinson Defensive Player of the Year in 2010…cousin of former NFL player Keith Newman…tremendous special teams player and moves well side-to-side…comes from one of the top high schools in the Tampa, Fla., area…tall and rangy player…chose New Mexico over Minnesota, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan and Washington State…finished with 63 tackles and eight sacks as a senior…also forced three fumbles and had a recovery.

“He is an outside linebacker for us.  He comes from one of the top high school programs in Florida.  He is a high-character, high-energy guy that leads by example. His game is all about speed and being physical at the point of attack. He will definitely help us on special teams and compete for time immediately. Tevin is an explosive tackler that could have an impact early.”

Massive offensive lineman who adds depth up front for the Lobos…ranked as one of the top offensive lineman in the state of Maryland…played at McDonough High School for head coach Luke Ethington…2010 First Team All-SMAC and First Team All-Tournament team…named Maryland First Team All-State…earned the Offensive Most Valuable Player award…led his team to the 2010 State Championship (13-1)…two-year starter and letterman on the basketball team…had 77 knockdown blocks and recorded 52 pancake blocks…graded out at 86 percent as a senior…moves well, has quick feet and uses his long arms to keep defenders off balance...selected to the 2010 Crab Bowl.

He is an explosive player and has shown his ability to pull.  The strength of his game is to be a knee bender and be athletic on his feet.  He has the body type to give us depth and potentially help us early.”

Strong offensive lineman who has great potential to develop into a key contributor…three-year starter for Braden River High School and Coach Don Purvis…All-District selection as a senior…named to the PAL Bowl, which is a local all-star game…his cousin, Chaz Hines, is an offensive lineman at USF…last name pronounced rowe-mine…was a staple in the running game this year for Braden River…has great size, a big frame and good strength.

Oxon Hill, Md. (Potomac HS)

Versatile talent who played defensive back, running back, quarterback, receiver, and returned kicks and punts for head coach Chris Davidson…name is pronounced de-VON-tay ta-BAN-a…three-year starter and was named to the all-Prince George’s County first team defense and Big School All-State second team defense last fall…missed a few games with a knee injury, but finished with four interceptions along with 639 yards passing and 323 rushing in 2009, helping Potomac (6-5) advance to the class 3A playoffs…accounted for 62 percent of the Wolverines’ offense as a junior, accumulating 1,441 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns…also had 6 pass break-ups in 2008…standout sprinter for the track team, winning the PG County 55-meter title in 2008…reportedly timed at 4.41 in the 40…defensive back MVP at the Nike Virginia Camp in the summer of 2009…participated in the 2009 Maryland Crab Bowl all-star game…named to the school honor roll…greyshirted last season after signing with New Mexico in 2010.   

PERSONAL:  Born March 21, 1992 in Washington, D.C…age is 18…full name is Devonta Desmond Tabannah…son of Vaughn Patterson and Sherrondia Washington…has an older brother, Deangelo, and younger sister, Devyne…undecided on a possible major at UNM.

Athletic and talented defensive lineman who played two seasons at Cerritos College in California…name is pronounced fa-tu you-la-lay…played for head coach Frank Mazzotta at Cerritos…had 38 tackles in 12 games last season…logged a career-high six TFLs…had a 0.5 sack and four quarterback hurries…played in 10 games as a true freshman and recorded 17 tackles (7 solo) and 1.5 TFL…brings versatility and experience…adds depth as an explosive pass rusher.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Bellflower High School and was the Defensive Player of the Year as a senior…recorded 55 tackles with four sacks and four fumble recoveries in his final prep season…also played basketball and volleyball.  

PERSONAL:  Born March 8, 1991 in Torrance, Calif…age is 19…son of Wanda and Fatu Ulale…has two siblings, Matthew and Clement.

Athletic quarterback with leadership skills and all the physical tools…two-year starter at quarterback for Raton High School…played for his uncle Brock Walton…passed for over 8,000 yards in his career…had 89 touchdowns during his four-year career, compared to only 22 interceptions…surpassed the 3,000 passing yard mark his final two seasons…was a two-time All-District player in 2008-09…named the District Player of the Year in 2009…two-time All-State selection in 2009 and 2010…also played wide receiver in 2008 and had 29 receptions for 303 yards and seven TDs…had a 36-13 team record during his four years at RHS…was 20-6 as the starting quarterback…won three District 2A Championships…also played basketball.

PERSONAL:  Born February 10, 1993 in Raton, N.M….age is 17…full name is Dustin James Walton…son of Vicki and Brandon Thomas…has four siblings, Jordan, Sarandon, Payten, Jadyn.

Interior offensive lineman who is very physical…will continue to develop and adds some much needed depth on the offensive line…continues to develop his footwork and has great potential…will benefit from spring ball and compete for playing time in 2011…spent last season as a greyshirt after signing with the Lobos in 2010…also lettered in track. 

PERSONAL:  Born Nov. 13, 1991 in Dallas, Texas…age is 19…hobbies include football and hunting…nickname is The Big A.

Three-star talent with tremendous overall body structure and a very physical style of play…two-year starter for head coach Jim Creech…two-time All-District selection…a finalist for the Touchdown Club of Houston Defensive Player of the Year…finished with 50 tackles in 2010, had three TFLs, four pass breakups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
