Malcolm Thomas to Play in Reese's All-Star Game
March 30, 2011HOUSTON - San Diego State forward Malcolm Thomas will play in the Reese's College All-Star game, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced on Tuesday. The game, which will be televised live on TruTV, will be played as part of the 2011 NCAA Final Four on Friday, April 1, at 4:35 p.m. CT at Reliant Stadium.
The game will feature two teams of the most outstanding college seniors in the nation.
The coaches for the game are former Oklahoma coach Billy Tubbs, who led the Sooners to the NCAA championship game in 1988 and Bill Foster, who guided Duke to the NCAA title contest in 1978.
Thomas will be a part of the West All-Stars and the selection comes after he averaged 11.4 points and 8.1 rebounds for a San Diego State squad that enjoyed its best season in program history.
The Aztecs advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16 for the first time in school history and picked up the program's first two Division I NCAA victories along the way. The Aztecs finished with a 34-3 record, which established a school record for wins in a single season, and were ranked in the AP Top-25 Poll for all 18 weeks. SDSU, which had never been ranked in school history entering this season, wound up sitting in the top 10 of both major college basketball polls for the final 13 weeks of the campaign. The Aztecs, who shared the MWC regular-season crown and captured the conference tournament title, were ranked as high as No. 4 in both polls and are currently ranked sixth in the Associated Press poll and fifth in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll.
