COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Boise State senior defensive tackle Billy Winn and TCU senior linebacker Tank Carder have been named to the watch list for the 2011 Lott Trophy, which was released on Tuesday.

Sponsored by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, the award is given to a player who exhibits the same characteristics Ronnie Lott embodied during his Hall of Fame playing career: integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.

Winn, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., tallied 28 tackles (11 solo), 4.5 sacks (-34 yards), 9.5 tackles for loss (-51 yards) in 13 games last season. A second-team all-Western Athletic Conference honoree in 2010, Winn also notched two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one pass breakup.

Carder, a product of Sweeny, Texas, recorded 60 tackles (37 solo), 3.5 sacks (-20 yards), 9.5 tackles for loss (-31 yards), five pass breakups and one fumble recovery last season. He contributed to a TCU defense that led the nation in total defense (228.46 yards) for the third straight season. The Horned Frogs also ranked first in scoring defense (12.0 points) and pass defense (128.77 yards).

Voters for the Lott Trophy include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, members of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board of Directors, the Legends Coaches and distinguished alumni of various schools around the nation.

The winner, who will be announced at the annual black-tie gala in December, receives $25,000 for his institution's general scholarship fund.

Wisconsin defensive lineman J.J. Watt was last year's Lott Trophy recipient.
