UNLV men and San Diego State women captured the 2010-11 Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving regular-season championships. It was the Rebels' third overall title and first since the 2008-09 season, while the Aztecs secured the program's first-ever MWC regular-season dual meet championship.Led by head coach Jim Reitz, the Rebels posted a perfect 5-0 Conference dual meet record. UNLV, which finished its regular season at 9-1, is currently ranked No. 17 in the latest TYR/College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) College Swimming & Diving Poll. The Rebels currently own MWC season-best times in 11 individual events and four relays.
On the women's side, San Diego State finished 8-0 in Conference dual meets. Under the direction of Mike Shrader, the Aztecs (18-0 overall) are 24th in the latest CSCAA rankings, and currently hold the league's top times this season in five individual events and three relays. In November, sophomore Katelyn Weddle broke the MWC record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.29, while the Aztecs' 400-yard medley relay set the league's all-time fastest mark of 3:39.28.
Regular-season action wraps up this week with 13 of 15 MWC teams competing in their final duals before the league's championship meet. The 2011 MWC Swimming & Diving Championships begin Wednesday, February 23. For the 12th consecutive year, the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., will serve as the host site for the MWC Championships, which will run through Saturday, February 26.Recruiting Roundup Programming
