MW Announces 2012 Women's Tennis Bracket

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 35th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs (15-5 overall) enter the 2012 Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed after posting a perfect 7-0 record en route to the Mountain West regular-season title. The MW Championship will be held, April 26-29, at the Aztec Tennis Center on the campus of San Diego State in San Diego, Calif. Quarterfinals action begins on Thursday, April 26, while semifinal play takes place on Saturday, April 28, with the championship scheduled for Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. PT.

Due to Mountain West tennis tiebreaker procedures, No. 49 UNLV (15-8 overall, 5-2 Mountain West) will be the No. 2 seed, while San Diego State (10-12, 5-2) captured the No. 3 seed. Wyoming (13-8, 5-2) claimed the No. 4 spot, while Air Force (17-7, 3-4) secured the No. 5 seed. Rounding out the bracket is No. 6 New Mexico (8-12, 1-6) and No. 7 seed Colorado State (4-15, 0-7).

The Boise State women’s tennis team (8-12, 2-5) will not compete in the 2012 MW Women’s Tennis Championship due to a one-year NCAA postseason ban.

The 2012 MW Women’s Tennis Championship gets underway Thursday, April 26 at 10 a.m. PT with a quarterfinal match between No. 4 Wyoming and No. 5 Air Force. Quarterfinal action is slated to continue at 2 p.m. PT with No. 2 UNLV taking on No. 7 Colorado State and No.3 San Diego State squaring off with No. 6 New Mexico. The MW semifinals are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. PT on Saturday, April 28, featuring No. 1 TCU taking on the winner of Wyoming/Air Force and the UNLV/Colorado State winner squaring off against either San Diego State or New Mexico. The championship match is set for 2 p.m PT on Sunday, April 29.
