2010 NCAA Women's College Cup Bracket in PDF Format
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's soccer program has received a NCAA postseason bid for the first time in school history. The Lobos (12-2-5), which advanced to the Mountain West Conference Tournament title game for the third time this past weekend, will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the opening round of NCAA competition. UNM will face the 4th-seed Notre Dame (15-2-2) in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Women's College Cup Friday. The time of the opening round match has yet to be released.
The Lobos celebrated their first-ever selection together Monday afternoon. Friends and family gathered in private reception held locally as they heard "New Mexico" called during the selection show on ESPNU.
Lobo head coach Kit Vela has led the Lobos to an impressive 12-2-5 record, including an undefeated MWC record of 5-0-2. UNM earned its first Mountain West Conference regular-season championship this season.
New Mexico and BYU are the only MWC schools in the field of 64.
The winner of the UNM-Notre Dame match will face the winner of Illinois (13-4-1) and Southern California (12-5-3).
