2010-11 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

The nine MWC women's basketball coaches chose Wyoming senior Aubrey Vandiver as the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year for 2010-11 as the all-Conference team and individual award winners were announced by the MWC today. BYU senior Mindy Bonham was named Defensive Player of the Year honors, while teammate Kristen Riley was chosen as the Sixth Player of the Year. The Freshman of the Year award was given to Utah's Michelle Plouffe, while SDSU's Courtney Clements earned Newcomer of the Year honors. BYU's Jeff Judkins earned his third MWC Coach of the Year honor after guiding the Cougars to their third MWC regular-season title.

Ten seniors, one junior, two sophomores and two freshmen make up this year's all-MWC teams. Seven of the all-Conference picks were repeat selections from 2009-10, while five were 2008-09 honorees.

Three institutions were honored on this year's first team. Joining Vandiver and Bonham on the all-MWC first team were TCU's Emily Carter and Helena Sverrisdottir and Wyoming's Hillary Carlson. All five players are repeat all-Conference performers with Sverrisdottir making her fourth appearance on the teams, while Bonham, Carlson, Carter and Vandiver are on the teams for the third time.

Plouffe is joined on the second team by teammate Iwalani Rodrigues, also a newcomer to the all-Conference team. Second team honorees Coriann Fraughton of BYU, Kim Mestdagh of Colorado State and Starr Crawford of TCU are repeat all-MWC honorees from 2009-10.

Four-time all-MWC performer Paris Johnson of San Diego State is joined on the third team by two-time honorees Haley Hall of BYU and Amanda Best of New Mexico. Colorado State's Sam Martin and San Diego State's Jessika Bradley make their first appearance, rounding out the third team.

Aubrey Vandiver (Wyoming) - Player of the Year, First Team All-MWC
Wyoming's Aubrey Vandiver earned her first first-team selection after being named to the second team in 2009-10 and third team in 2007-08. Helping Wyoming to a 22-7 overall and 12-4 Conference record, Vandiver averaged 19.6 points (1st), 8.5 rebounds (3rd), 2.8 assists (13th) and 1.4 steals (15th) per game in league play. The senior from Laramie, Wyo. recorded a league-leading six double-doubles in 16 MWC contests, including eight 20-point performances.

Mindy Bonham (BYU) - Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-MWC
BYU's Mindy Bonham helped the Rams to the 2011 Mountain West Conference regular season title, a 23-7 overall and 15-1 Conference record. This marks Bonham's third all-conference selection as she was named to the third team in 2008-09 and second team last season. Bonham averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 assists per game in Conference play.

Emily Carter (TCU) - First Team All-MWC
TCU's Emily Carter finished third in scoring (16.3 ppg) and fourth in free throw percentage (.851) in Conference play. Carter scored 20 or more points in five league games and hit at least one shot from beyond the arc in 13 contests. She also led the Horned Frogs in scoring five times.

Helena Sverrisdottir (TCU) - First Team All-MWC
TCU's Helena Sverrisdottir averaged 13.8 points, 4.7 assists and 1.5 steals in Conference play. Sverrisdottir shot 43.8 percent from the field and 81.1 percent from the free throw line. She also led the Horned Frogs in scoring five times.

Hillary Carlson (Wyoming) - First Team All-MWC
Wyoming's Hillary Carlson averaged 15.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in Conference play. Carlson shot 47.9 precent from the field and 83.1 percent from the free throw line. She led the Cowgirls in scoring four times.
