SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The TCU Horned Frogs stretched their winning streak to eight straight with a 6-1 win over San Diego State Friday night. Jason Coats spurred the offense with three hits and two RBIs in his return to the lineup.

A lead-off walk to Kyle Von Tungeln paid dividends for the Horned Frogs as they turned it into an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. With two on and one out, Jerrick Suiter looped a single into left field and Von Tungeln raced home to give the Frogs the lead.

Mitchell wiggled off the hook in the bottom of the second as he battled his control. With one on and two out, he gave up a double to Seby Zavala then issued a walk to Matt Munoz to load the bases. After falling behind 3-1 to Cody Smith, Mitchell battled back to strike him out looking to end the inning.

TCU added a run to its lead in the top of the third without the benefit of a hit. Keaton Jones and Von Tungeln drew walks to open the inning and both were in scoring position when Aztec starter Michael Cederoth unleashed a wild pitch, allowing Jones to race home for a 2-0 lead.

The Horned Frogs tacked on another run in the top of the fifth. Von Tungeln battled back from a 0-2 count to work his third walk of the game to open the frame. Jantzen Witte followed with a single to left that moved Von Tungeln to third. Jason Coats came through with a double to left center to make it a 3-0 contest.

San Diego State took advantage of three straight one-out walks to push across a run in the bottom of the inning. Mitchell gave way to Brandon Finnegan with one on and one out. Two walks followed to load the bases. Chris Wilson made it a 3-1 contest as he hit a sacrifice fly to push across the Aztecs first run of the game.

Another lead-off walk to Von Tungeln turned into yet another run for the Frogs as they pushed their lead to 4-1. Standing on second with one out, Von Tungeln raced home on a seeing-eye single up the middle by Coats.

A pair of hits in the eighth inning produced the Frogs' fifth run of the ballgame. Kevin Cron singled with one out and pinch runner Brett Johnson moved to second on a walk to Brance Rivera. Jones came through with a big two-out single to drive in Von Tungeln for a 5-1 lead.

Brett Johnson gave TCU a 6-1 lead in the ninth inning with a two-out single that plated Coats, who had led off the inning with his second double of the game.
