WG: TCU Continues Lead After Round 2

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - Defending champion TCU maintained its lead after 36 holes of the 2012 Mountain West Women's Golf Championship on the Gold Course at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The 35th-ranked Horned Frogs, who have posted a 27-over-par 603 through two rounds of the 2012 tournament, carded a 11-over 299 today and hold a five-shot lead over No. 45 San Diego State, who is currently second with a 36-hole total of 32-over 608. In second-round action, the Aztecs posted a 13-over 301. Colorado State is currently in third position with a 40-over 616, while No. 47 UNLV and No. 48 New Mexico are knotted in fourth position, after shooting identical marks of 41-over 617. Wyoming shot a 36-hole total of 45-over 621 for sixth place, and Boise State finished the second round in seventh place with a 48-over 624.
TCU's Sanna Nuutinen, who entered the second day of competition in fourth place at 1-over 73, rose to the top of the individual leaderboard. The sophomore carded a 2-under 70 in Round 2 for a 36-hole total of 1-under 143 on the par 72, 6,208-yard Gold Course. San Diego State's Christine Wong fired a 2-over 74 today and is currently sitting in second position at 2-over 146. Fellow Aztec Malin Enarsson and New Mexico's Manon DeRoey each trail by one stroke after 36 holes and are tied in third place at 3-over 147.
TCU's April McCoy leads all golfers with seven birdies, while Wyoming's Juanita Rico has tallied six birdies after two rounds. Enarsson has posted the lone eagle of the event.
