FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State junior Caitlan Stem added to her home run total on Saturday and pushed her hitting streak to 10 games as part of a 4-1 victory over New Mexico at Ram Field.

Stem’s fifth-inning blast was her seventh in as many games to give her 10 total this season and six in conference action.

“Overall, we hit the ball hard and played solid defense today,” Head Coach Mary Yori said. “This was a good team win to keep us in the conference race.”

New Mexico (11-34, 1-11 MWC) struck early, recording a run in the first inning after Cristin Anderson drew a leadoff walk and scored when teammate Stefanie Carramusa dropped a single in left field, but the Rams scored four unanswered to earn their 28th victory of the season and sixth in MWC action.

In a nationally televised contest on The Mtn., Stem tied the game at 1-1 in the third when she doubled to left center to plate fellow junior Ivory Allen from first. Stem scored the go-ahead run when sophomore Jenna Krogh tripled to left center to give Colorado State a 2-1 advantage.

Sophomore Christine Thomsen added a third run for the Rams when she singled through the right side to plate Krogh.

Stem’s homer made it 4-1 and sophomore Kelli Eubanks shut down the Lobos’ offense in the final innings to secure her 22nd victory of the season while allowing one run on seven hits and striking out nine.

Colorado State (28-18, 6-6 MWC) hosts San Diego State on Thursday at Ram Field with a 4 p.m. MT first pitch against the Aztecs. The Rams will then host UNLV on Friday and Saturday with a 4 p.m. MT and 12 p.m. MT first pitch, respectively.

Saturday is senior day at Ram Field, where seniors Kayla Kreutzman, Allison Majam, Robyn Mask, Ashley Munoz, Rebecca Penland and Sarah Sullivan will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
